Ricardo’s New Shoes

Our last post was about Ricardo, who is 14 and is deaf. He had an operation many years ago for a clubfoot, but his feet and legs are still damaged. The therapy we are providing includes new shoes, which we bought over the weekend, and inserts custom designed for his feet. Will Jiron, an expert in this area, made sure they fit. Will is a volunteer from First Mansfield UMC and was visiting Casa Bugambilia with a small mission team over the weekend. It will be awkward as Ricardo adjusts to walking differently, but he should be much more comfortable in the long run. Plans are for Ricardo to stay at Casa B. so we can monitor how his feet are adjusting. Gerardo and Larry researched basic signs so that Ricardo can communicate how his feet feel. Staying at Casa B. will also be an opportunity for Ricardo to learn more sign language. And, well, for everyone just to be together.
